Fuel Filler Pipe and Fuel Tank Assembly

Mustang’s use a “saddle tank” design fuel tank, meaning, it is a dual-chamber design that bolts up in the rear of the vehicle, making room for drive-line components in the center. It has a main fill pipe. Note in the 2nd. Drawing the tight turns the fuel tank filler piping has to make.

Item # 18 in the drawing is the fuel tank, which is the subject of warranty replacement in one of the numerous TSB’s (Technical Service Bulletin’s) on this issue.
